Transformational Writing: The Application of Patanjali’s Teachings in the Process of Creative Writing

This course examines creative writing as a spiritual practice based on Patanjali’s definitive work: The Yoga Sutras. Contemplative philosophy together with creative writing theory are investigated, integrated, and applied in an open and heuristic setting involving class discussions, narrative inquiry, course readings, the writing of reflective papers, as well as active participation in practical workshops. Students are encouraged to explore the unconscious self and exercise new constructs while approaching their art as a support system of life.
